thatched homes at Ballyvaughan, on the Burren in County Clare, Ireland.
Front caption reads,
"Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare, Ireland."
Back caption reads:
"'BALLYVAUGHAN, CO. CLARE:
The Burren is a 'karst'-like area of bare limestone hills, covering about
50 square miles, and extends south and south-west from Ballyvaughan.
The thin soil of its hollows and crevices supports the most remarkable
assemblage of diverse types of flora to be found in Ireland. With numerous
antiquities dating from pre-historic to medieval times, the area also contains
much to interest the antiquarian. The village of Ballyvaughan is a convenient
centre for exploring the Burren country."
